Hi, Ronn

I loved the screening last week, I found it so interesting and exciting to see the film 15 years later, as I loved it when it first came out and to see the panel there was a real treat. John Densmore really got to me when he recited Jim’s poetry and played his bongo, that was a once in a lifetime special…

I am interested in future events as well so please keep me posted.

Thanks!

Dear Gordon,

I would like to offer my impressions of the recent screening of "The Doors" movie and the overall event at the Chinese 6 Theater in Hollywood last week.

First, any event that causes fans of The Doors to gather wins my gratitude. While standing in line with friends chatting and catching up on Doors news, we ended up sharing conversations with other Doors fans who were strangers to us but were as excited as we were about the events that evening.

This would to be my first time seeing the movie in many years. Although I own video and DVD copies of it, nothing compares to big screen and great sound, so I was especially looking forward to experiencing the movie again in a theater.

The opportunity to see Oliver Stone and the stars of the movie in person was exciting in itself, but then the chance to see them participate in a Question & Answer session was really the big attraction for my friends and me.

The repartee between Val Kilmer and Kyle MacLachlan in particular was really fun. They clearly enjoyed recounting anecdotes from the filming, and their comments seemed very spontaneous and unrehearsed.

Oliver's contributions to the discussion were insightful, such as when he explained that he would take the cast and crew to each location and explain what was going to happen there ... and then ask for their input. That was very revealing about how he operated as a Director, as were some of the actors' comments about Oliver's methods.

With The Doors drummer John Densmore participating in the Q&A as well as appearing in some movie scenes, it validated the band's cooperation with the movie production. It was important to the event to have a Door there.

I'd like to thank you for organizing an event such as this. Besides the tie-in with the release of the 15th Anniversary Edition release of the film, it was great for fans to have an opportunity to see the director and actors themselves look back and reminisce about their own experience with the project.
